Let’s face it reading lengthy articles on the screen can often be a pain and every now and then it would be great if the main points were highlighted for you. At other times it would be great to be able to show your students examples of articles and different summaries.
Summarity is an interesting tool you might like to try. Using either the online option or a browser bookmarklet you can paste in text or add a URL to be summarized. The summaries are produced in two forms, a block text of the summary or a skimmed version. The latter has the whole text with the key sentences boldened.
The Enter Text option offers more flexibility as you can adjust the amount of text to be included in the summary from the sometimes limiting default of 0.16 of the text upwards.
