A Canadian Take on 21st Century Schooling

Thanks to a tweet by @ictguy I was able to check out this interesting video from the New Brunswick School District in Canada, which was produced

……to stimulate discussion among educators and other stakeholders in public education in the province of New Brunswick.

In the vein of the Shift Happens videos, this one starts by asking us to reflect on when we last undertook what were once regarded as significant technology based behaviours before going on to look at the likely changes in education. It looks at some of the skills and capabilities that students bring to schools these days before looking at the world of work and the implications of accelerating futures. It posits the need for education to be adaptive to these changes in not only the how but also the what of that which we teach. The video then goes on look at the new “musts” of 21st century learning before exploring some of what all this means in context. This is an altogether appealing discussion starter, check it out.
