Via Judy, (and before that Janet, don’t you just love connectivity), comes mention that this Friday 31st of August has been designated the 3rd annual Blog Day. BlogDay initiator Israeli Nir Ofir points out that
“…… the majority of blog Readers read a very small number of top blogs?”
and rightly asks
“Is this social media?”
Nir suggests the following BlogDay posting instructions:
- Find 5 new Blogs that you find interesting
- Notify the 5 bloggers that you are recommending them as part of BlogDay 2007
- Write a short description of the Blogs and place a link to the recommended Blogs
- Post the BlogDay Post (on August 31st) and
- Add the BlogDay tag using this link:
http://technorati.com/tag/BlogDay2007 and a link to the BlogDay web site at http://www.blogday.org
This seems like a neat idea and especially helpful for those new to blogging. How often have you read a nascent blogger reflecting that they have so much to learn when they have already taken the biggest step in starting to blog? Remember how good it was when you received your first comment, why not spread the feeling by looking out some newbies to encourage?
Speaking of encouragement, that redoubtable aquaculturist from Perth Sue W has been at it big time in her quest to build a better blog in 31 days. I get exhausted just reading the entries let alone trying to take it all in in order to make a comment :). Fascinating to see in Sue’s post about iGoogle a reference to Gabriella who is feeding bookmarks into Sue’s del.iciou.us account. Curious as ever I followed the link to Gabriella’s blog to find it written in a language that I am embarrassed to admit that I cannot even work out the origin of in order to translate it. Now that is really reaching out.
ROFL yes I have had several of my readers telling me they are not sure how I am keeping up with the challenge as they can not cope with keeping up with the reading. Maybe I need to suggest Berrocca’s for our readers?
Gabriela is from Romania, and she is an amazing person. She first learnt of me through my podcast site, feel in love with my wiki and since then we have followed each other on our blogs – and she gives me articles in Delicious. She is also now using Twitter. Check out this article she wrote on del.icio.us.

New subscriber here. Thanks for the blog love. I’m headed to your Smartboard blog next to see what treasures are there.
Just catching up on my reading! I hope a lot of folks pick this up…finding new voices helps us keep our thinking fresh and as new teachers begin there year and are starting to build RSS accounts this will be a rich opportunity for them to discover a lot of possibilities.
One of my challenges as an admn is helping them develop their own RSS feeds and not having them just read the few I start them with…
